Clean Your HP Printer WHen Its Scanner Has Lines

Fingerprints, stains, dust, or remnants of papers in its glass, which is below the scanner cover or in the paper feeder slot may trigger unwanted lines and bands of colors to appear on the scan. Clean the scanner glass with a soft cloth sprayed with glass cleaner. The method varies, depending on the type of glass on your scanner. In the meantime, you may also need to see the recommended printer ink cartridge.

Here are the ways:

-A scanner or scanner with a glass scanner that “sleeps” and has a cover.
-Turn off the printer, then remove it from the power source.
-Open the scanner lid.
-Spray glass cleaner onto a soft cloth or microfiber cloth. Then wipe the cloth onto the scanner glass, the glass cracks (if any), the white part below the scanner lid, and the white cracks below its cover (if any), until clean. After that, dry and leave it open. To protect the components in the printer or scanner, do not spray the glass cleaner directly into the scanner glass or behind the scanner lid.
-Reconnect the printer to a power source, then turn on the printer. Don’t forget to close the cover tightly.
-Try to scan a document or photo to the printer. Make sure the document or photo you want to scan is in good condition and there is no dirt, folds, wetness, remaining staples, or the rest of the tape.
-If the problem still continues, see the next step.
-Printer with paper slot feeder.
-Turn off the printer, then remove it from the power source, and unplug the battery (if your printer has a battery).
-Open all the top cover, paper feeder tray, and scan paper feeder cover, which depends on your printer model.
-Clean any debris such as pieces of paper or paper clips that might be inside the paper feeder.
-Spray glass cleaner onto a soft cloth or microfiber cloth. Then wipe the cloth onto the scanner glass and the white part on the bottom side of the paper feeder until it is clean. Then, dry it and leave the printer open. To protect the components in the printer or scanner, do not spray the glass cleaner directly into the scanner glass or behind the scanner lid.
-After drying, cover tightly all the covers and trays that you opened earlier.
-Reconnect the printer to a power source, replace the battery if it was previously available, then turn on the printer.
-Try to scan a document or photo to the printer. Make sure the document or photo you want to scan is in good condition and there is no dirt, folds, wetness, remaining staples, or the rest of the tape.
-If the problem still continues, see the next step.
-Clean the paper feeder (if it has this feature) with the cloth and start the scan to clean the mechanical system from the scanner.
